1 – Suppose we need to divide the square into five equal in width and in the area of the stripes. How to do it without a ruler? There is a simple and elegant way.
2 – First, outline the middle of the upper side.
3 – Now bend the upper right corner so that the fold line passes between the lower left corner and the intended point.
4 – With a pencil, mark the point at which the corner hit. Draw a fold line through it parallel to the left side of the square. The width of this strip is exactly one fifth of the original square. Put the corner back in place.
5 – Further it’s not difficult to outline three more lines.
7 – The square is divided into five identical stripes.
