Yoshihide Momotani

Mr. Momotani, the world-famous master of origami, is a botanist by education. After graduating from Kyoto University in 1952, he taught at the University of Osaka and did research in the field of botany and pharmacology.

He is now a PhD in these areas. Being engaged in scientific work, he displays the beauty of the surrounding nature in the images of origami. His compositions are complex and interesting. He is the author of many books about the art of folding paper figurines.

One of the most interesting aspects of creativity Momotani are illustrations of children’s works, made in the technique of origami. The most famous works in this field are: illustrations for the German fairy tale “Gingerbread House” and Saint Exupery’s novel “Night Flight”
