Making templates for origami fabric

Before a flower from a fabric is dissolved in your hands, before it starts to play on any product, you must do several successive operations: choose a pattern, cut it, cut out and make a module, fold a flower out of it, which you then use for its intended purpose – to decorate im this or that thing. And while you need to follow certain rules and techniques. The making of ornaments made of fabric using origami technique begins with the manufacture of one or several patterns. The main patterns for origami fabric: square, circle, pentagon, hexagon, large octagon, small octagon.

Make patterns with seam allowances – 0.7 cm from the edge of the pattern. To transfer them to cardboard or heavy paper, use tracing paper or carbon paper. If you need a template of a different size, bigger or smaller for the realization of your creative plan, make it yourself. Draw the outline of the template on graph paper, changing its value proportionally. And do not forget about the lines denoting seam allowances! To determine the minimum size of the allowance, measure the distance from the needle to the edge of the foot of your sewing machine. And then you can start cutting out the template with scissors designed for this purpose.

Take care of scissors for fabric and do not resort to a roller knife-cutter, especially if the contour is a curved line – the pattern will be inaccurate. To cut, paste a piece of graph paper onto the cardboard, then carefully, avoiding any notches, first cut the inner and then the outer contour of the drawn part. You will have a frame whose width is equal to the fabric seam allowance. Such templates-frames will help in the work of beginning craftswomen who still do not know how to lay a straight line on the sewing machine.
